It wasn't that long ago that we started a fun experiment to teach some theatre games to children in the Kenmare Family Centre. After selling out the first class we had a notion that maybe there might be a strong enough interest for us to offer more and grow the the programme. We then relocated to the Carnegie Arts Centre and the core foundations of Theatre Games Ireland were born. Theatre Games Ireland brought a new children’s theatre and performing arts programme to Kenmare, Co Kerry. We offered drama and performance classes for ages 7+ with the aim to promote self-expression, critical thinking, creativity and teamwork. We wanted to offer a safe, structured and positive environment for children to build self-confidence, improved social abilities and genuine leadership skills.
With increased demand from the students and parents, we took to the stage to produce a number of memorable shows and community performances such Bedtime Stories, How to Eat Like a Child, Polar Express, We are Monsters and our 2019 spring musical, Little Orphan Annie, to name a few. With the success of our musicals and local singing contributions it was inevitable that we would launch The Kenmare Youth Choir. KYC offers a fun group experience for young people where they learn to perform their favourite songs together. Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Blues and so much more.
In the summer of 2019, we launched Kenmare Performing Arts as an umbrella group that aspires to
promote local artistic talent and events in our community. We are closely affiliated with the Frederiek Biesma School of Music. The school offers a range of programmes for musicians of every level including
private and group music lessons for a variety of musical instruments, vocal training lessons, music theory grinds and tutoring, and a well established community orchestra.

We do this in a safe and supportive environment.
It's our everlasting ambition to continue to broaden the reach of the performing arts in southwest Kerry over the coming years. We want to help people connect with, appreciate and love the ultimate sensation that comes from being a part of the live performance.
